10 sci-fi anime for Steins;Gate fans

Steins;Gate is a rather strange time-traveling anime that focuses on sending emails and letters back in time to save a girl from death. Rintaro Okabe discovered this by accident and used it first to stop Kurisu Makise’s death and then to ensure that his high school friend Mayuri Shiina could live in a timeline after his death.

Serious overtones laced with humor, both series explore the butterfly effect where a single change in the past can have massive consequences.

Although a little more fantasy-based and harem-focused than stone; door, Re: Zero has some similarities with stone; door. The history of Re: Zero focuses on Subaru Natsuki and his reincarnation and his misadventures resetting time so he can survive to meet a girl and save her too.

Re: Zero has suspense, larger than life adventures, suspense and drama. It is also created by the same studio and contains many beautiful characters. If you like harems, suspense and drama, this series is for you.

This Sunrise production deserves your attention if you love science fiction. In summary, the Holy Empire of Britain has conquered Japan and the exiled Lelouch Lamperouge is leading a rebellion against them, armed with a special power called the Geass and vengeance in his mind.

Code Geass is complex and somewhat realistic when it comes to its characters and drama. Lelouch and Rintaro mirror each other as they try to help their loved ones (Nunnally in Lelouch’s case, Mayuri in Rintaro’s case). Overthrowing Britannia from the inside won’t be easy, and characters will have to delve into dark territory on several occasions.


6) Ghost in the Shell

ghost in the shell focuses on conspiracy and cybernetics and what humanity measures when given the choice between man and machine. It follows Major Kusanagi and his investigation into multiple conspiracies that are turning society upside down.

The show presents a serious investigation into the causes and effects of digital crime and cybernetics. It also helps that Major Kusanagi’s team is balanced and friendly, as are Rintaro’s aides and friends stone; door.

serial tests is a predecessor of stone; door in the genres sci-fi and suspense. The series centers on Lain Iwakura, a young girl whose introduction to the digital world takes her to the nursery that offers the connected virtual landscape.
