The mini-golf (1) – the very first in Creuse accessible to people with reduced mobility – comes alongside the trampolines, the course in the trees and the outdoor laser game offered next to the mythical site of the Pierres Jaûmatres, Chaos Granite is located on the summit of Mount Barlot (591 m). Finally, a decoration on the theme of the sagas and legends of this place should adorn the 18-hole course.

This new offer for visitors and tourists is part of a global approach of continuous improvement on the part of the managers of the restaurant, which the prefect of Creuse Virginie Darpheuille, presented on Thursday for the inauguration of the mini-golf course, describes as “major” players in the attractiveness of the territory “. In 2021, the chalet was notably equipped with a brand new raised wooden terrace with an area of 657 m².

The equipment gives the restaurant more prestige and, above all, has allowed an increase in reception capacity. The Chalet des Pierres Jaumâtres treats between 150 and 200 guests per service on weekdays, and up to 350 on weekends. And yet it’s a limit that the restaurant sets itself. “We have room for 700 to 800 place settings, but then we have to feed the people! » says Fabrice Bardini, manager of the chalet, with a smile.

Housing construction project

The latter is currently considering expanding the kitchen. But as with any construction project on the Pierres Jaumâtres natural site, listed as a Historical Monument since 1927, the approval of the architect of the French buildings is required. That the managers of the chalet have applied for another major project: the construction of twelve chalets – 17 in the long term – plus five unusual accommodations.

“If all goes well, work could start at the end of 2022 for operations from 2024,” informs Fabrice Bardini. For the manager, this investment is as relevant as it is essential to ensure the attractiveness of the region.

“When they see the chalet and the grounds, clients often ask me if we have accommodation. But the Creuse suffers from a deficit at this level. And we want to offer a complete offer with restaurant, leisure and accommodation. »

For this project, estimated at several million euros (2), the managers of the chalet were able to obtain a substantial subsidy of the order of 500,000 euros from the State and the Regional Council of New Aquitaine as part of the “Avenir Montagnes” plan. , Central sector of the massif. An opportunity not to be missed, even if the financial cost of the Chalet des Pierres Jaumâtres would remain significant. Not enough to slow down Fabrice Bardini in his ambitions: “The project is feasible,” he assures in a calm tone. If the housing project comes about, 17 jobs could be created.

(1) Cost of €205,000, 80% borne by both the State (67%) and the Region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (13%).
(2) The managers of Chalet des Pierres Jaumâtres estimate the cost of building accommodation at 2,000,000 euros for the first phase (the 12 chalets) and 1,000,000 euros for the second phase (the five additional chalets and the five unusual ones accommodation).
