The first time Julie used that animal communication, that was 2018. Foster family, they take in a kitten that needs enucleation on both eyes, a very serious operation. In parallel with convalescence, she chooses an animal communicator.

Since then, she has often used this practice, whether privately or for the animals of the association Our Friends Our Animals, of which she is President, and has even decided to train in it. “That’s how we were able to understand certain behaviors instead of asking the animal how it feels”she tells us.

A perspective that attracts more and more people. For years, reports of owners who have used animal communication have been piling up on social networks. Between good experience, skeptical feedback, last resort or simple curiosity, News.fr wanted to know more about this practice.

Soul to soul communication

The principle of animal communication, also called intuitive communication or telepathic communicationis intended to create a connection to improve the relationship between animal (regardless of age, sex, species) and human, to identify the cause of certain problems and to convey a message.

“It’s about getting Soul to soul communication. Also, the word animal comes from Latin animawhat soul means”, entrusted News.fr Christiane Saarbach. She has been practicing animal communication since the 2000s, an almost obvious professional retraining because “I have known since I was little that I had this gift for communicating with animals. »

Its task is convey between the owner (“the keeper,” she corrects) and the animal. “We can treat everything via animal communication,” says Christiane, who cites abuse, behavioral problems or eating disorders as examples.

In the case of abused animals taken in by Julie’s association based in Clermont (Ariège), animal communication allows “to find out about their previous life, to understand their behavior and to work to improve their daily life more effectively”, explains the young woman.

There is nothing like a magical process. You need to let go of your mind, get on those same waves (again) and stimulate that frequency to communicate.

About a photo of the animal

When they are contacted by people who want to start an animal communication session, Christiane starts with the question a photo of the animal. So it doesn’t matter if the animal is not physically present – for example, is abroad or has died.

A recent photo, if possible with the view. We also ask for the name of the animal and the handler(s), but that’s all.

Once contact is made, it is a real exchange what begins. “I give him messages from his keeper, I send him information. But the animal “also speaks to me”, i hear a voiceit’s as if I answered the phone to answer him,” Christiane illustrates.

Depending on the seriousness of the situation, communication may take longer or shorter. The more questions and answers to consider, the longer the head-to-head communication takes.

last step, finally: call the owner back and pass the information on to him. “He’s the one who gives it meaning,” the communicator concludes.

Words, pictures, feelings

Communication can also take other forms. “Personally, I understand pictures and words. But for others it will be more likely colors, feelings like pain or chills,” adds Julie.

These are physical and emotional sensations that we translate as mediators. I use my five senses because that is what guides our intuition and I reproduce with our words and human vocabulary.

But that also happens The animal refuses to communicate. “We always ask the animal if it accepts the communication and give the reasons for our request,” Julie tells us. “I never force a communication,” adds Christiane, who has also faced rejections.

Sometimes some tell us that they don’t want to or that we have to try again later. Personally, I have a resounding “no” that comes up when I ask.

Everything also depends on what our companions at home have to communicate, explains Julie, as well as on her past “Some people want to tell us about pain, an inappropriate environment, a specific need. Others will just want to say they enjoy certain moments, like sleeping on a certain blanket or walking in a certain place. »

If the message doesn’t get through…

It is precisely in this perspective that Shana wanted to use animal communication. She had never heard of it before hanging out on social media. “There were both positive and negative opinions, I wanted to test to get my idea »She remembers the young woman next doorNews.fr.

For example, with Loki, her cat, she asked if he was happy with her, if he missed his old family, if he liked his porridge or if he preferred a certain food… but also the reasons for his behavior.

I wanted to know why he bites me, if I did something about it or on the contrary, if I’m not doing something right. He meowed non-stop every night, sometimes even during the day, I wanted to ask him to stop.

But this experiment in animal communication turns out to be disappointing. “I think I made the mistake of telling him about his old family, so the communicator pulled out all the paraphernalia of abandonment,” she fumes. inconsistency also on the food side: Loki would tell him that he only likes chicken, “but prefers anything with shrimp.” »

Today my cat bites me all the time. If he wants, actually. He keeps meowing at night. The message, if any, did not arrive properly! Anyway, I won’t try again.

The behaviorist observes, the communicator translates

Be careful not to confuse behaviorism and animal communication. “The border is thin. it is two entrance doors to understand the beast‘ acknowledges Amandine, a behaviorist based in Pas-de-Calais. But behaviorism is practiced within the framework of scientific knowledge and studies.

We know that a dog will adopt this attitude and that attitude depending on whether he is scared or happy. Our job is to say why he’s having this reaction and behavior, but it’s not about emotions or feelings.

“A behaviorist intervenes when there is a parenting problem, he can say what needs to be corrected and how to do it,” adds Christiane Saarbach. In both cases, “it’s a matter of interpretive work,” admits Amandine.

As a behaviorist, my goal is not to mediate, but to listen and observe to better understand.

But beware, there is no entitlement to a substitute veterinarian. “Animal communication can complement medical treatment, but if the animal has a health problem, you should see a vet,” she recalls.

Be careful with the interpretation

Also pay attention do not fall into personal interpretation. “Scientifically, the fact of using only a photo to decipher an animal seems risky to me after my training,” specifies the young woman, director of the company Dogs and Masters.

It’s like seeing a photograph of a crying child. We can think he’s sad, that he hurt himself, that he’s just pretending… We’re going to make a judgment without knowing the context. We can describe a photo, but to understand behavior you have to be there.

Incidentally, this risk of interpretation is what Anaëlle criticizes. “Very Cartesian” in life but willing to spend big on her hairball (osteopathy, naturopathy, etc.), this nurse has nevertheless chosen animal communication finally to find Shrimp, her cat, who has been missing for a week.

According to the person contacted, Shrimp only went for a walk to “see the country. “Anaëlle isn’t convinced, especially as the animal communicator describes a character that is ‘not at all like her cat’.” A few days later, the animal returns home in a sad state.

“He was dirty, emaciated and had a fracture at the base of his tail that could have killed him like he escaped somewhere,” she saysNews.fr. After this bad experience, there is no point in trying animal communication again.

I’ve seen this practice being practiced, but I don’t quite understand how it can be learned. I thought it was more of a kind of intrinsic gift.

“Anyone can communicate with animals”

Julie is one of those guys who wanted just that know behind the scenes, training as an animal communicator again after years of consultation. Today she regularly practices communication with acquaintances and strangers.

As Laura [la communicatrice animale avec qui elle a l’habitude de travailler, ndlr] told us that communication is within everyone’s reach, I said to myself, why not me?

After her bad experience, Anaëlle realizes that something is worrying her. In fact, some time after Shrimp’s return, a neighbor asks her if she found her four-legged friend and if she was able to get him out of his position without any problems.

Very surprised by all the details, Anaëlle wants to know more. It turns out that her neighbor communicated with her cat. An ability she inherited from her grandmother – “which her family confirmed to me” – and which she dares not speak of for fear of being laughed at.

She had a vision that night, like a dream, she felt Shrimp’s feelings, his distress. It came to her with no power, maybe she was touched by the loss of my cat and it triggered that connection. But it confirms my idea: animal communication is a gift, it cannot be learned.

“Anyone can communicate with animals”, emphasizes Christiane, who is also a trainer. “I had students who didn’t even have animals at home! exclaims the communicator in Bas-Rhin.

Then what are they looking for? “Finding your values and reconnecting with yourself,” she smiles. Wasn’t it also Jean de la Fontaine who said he used animals to teach people?
